When choosing outdoor kitchen countertops your priority should always be durability first, and looks second. Otherwise, you'll find your investment going up in smoke. At Alpha Granite and Tile we will guide you to select a material that will suit the style of your house and your cooking style.

Your best choices are natural stone surfaces and Ultra Compact Surfaces. If your heart is set on a manufactured countertop like quartz or recycled glass, you can only use these types when shaded from the sun. Most use pigments that are not designed to stand up to outdoor use, so if the counter is exposed to UV rays the color may change over time. In some cases natural stones have resin coatings on the surface to fill in voids that cannot withstand UV rays and therefore cannot be used outdoors.

Ultra-Compact Surfaces such as Maxfine, Sapien Stone and Dekton are the materials of choice these days as they are UV resistant and can endure the most physical abuse caused by heat, oil, grease, weather and food coloring.

Outdoor kitchens often adopt the use of cinder blocks and or stone to build the support structure that holds up the countertops. Care must be taken to ensure that there is a flat level surface for the countertops to rest on.
